“Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” This powerful quote by Benjamin Franklin speaks directly to the approach of playful learning in the classroom. Students do not learn best by sitting in their desk all day, and being lectured to. Think back to your childhood, do you remember much during time periods when you were only “told” information? Most likely, no. Involving students during their time in the classroom is very crucial. This is where the most impactful learning and developmental stages will occur. Playful learning can be incorporated into every subject, and there are so many different routes teachers can take to make this happen. Some ways to incorporate involvement includes the following; centers, experiments, field trips, and so much more. This will not only be more beneficial to each student's education, but a more involved and playful learning environment is very impactful for social growth as well. This website has so many ideas to keep students involved and learning in a playful environment. In order to make education valuable, the learning experiences have to be thoughtfully prepared with integrated hands-on student involvement.
