Centers are a great way to enhance exploration and movement during the day. Science is all about senses. At these centers students would have the ability to learn about their a few of their different senses in a fun environment.
Hearing - Here are 2 different options for a hearing center!
1. Water Xylophone: More or less water creates different sounds/pitches when tapped on with something like a metal spoon.
2. Match the Sound: Using plastic eggs put different items in the eggs such as, rice, quarters, marbles, etc. Make sure to have 2 eggs of each. Students shake the eggs listening to the sounds and find the match.

1. Blind Tasting - Students are blind folded and sample 3-4 significantly different tastes and asked to describe them. (sugar, salt, lemon slices, cocoa powder)

Touch - Prickly, slimy, smooth, what is it?
1. Touch Bags - At this center students will reach inside brown paper bags. Each bag will have different objects inside. Students will can either guess what it is, or use descriptive words to describe what they are feeling. Almost anything can be put inside the bags, but here are some ideas:
• cotton balls
• dice
• black beans
• plastic bag filled with water/lotion
