Prior Knowledge:
Students have been indepently beginning to read easy books, and are read out-loud to everyday. They have orally experienced many comprehension questions, but have not performed tasks on their own regarding comprehension or re-telling of any stories. Objectives:
Flip-Book Students will create a flip-book which has a section for beginning, middle, and end. Using cut out images from the story such as: seeds, gardening tools, the sun, basket of vegetables, cooking, and eating soup, students will glue these into the proper section of their flip-book. The order should be as read in the book “Vegetable Soup.” Once completed, the student will orally retell the story to the teacher with the guidance of their flip-book. Closing - Read the vegetable soup book one last time together as class so the students have a time to reflect on their flip-book compared to the actual book. Classroom Management: • During class read aloud times students have their designated spots to sit on the carpet • During independent reading time make clear that the voice level should be at a 0 (zero) |
