Using centers is a great interactive method of teaching. It gets students up and moving as well as constantly engaged. Centers can include stations including board games etc, but here are some other math center ideas!
Blocks - Even though blocks are a simple teaching tool they leave so much room for exploration. Students can count them, make patterns with the different colors, and build structures. There are endless possibilities.
Flashcards - At this center students could be working indecently, with a partner or a group. This helps develop fluency within different math skills.
Place Value - Students could be learning place value in general. For this unit there would be multiple options for different place value centers.
• Unifix Cubes
• Place Value Cups
• Simple Worksheets
