Parts of Speech Hopscotch - Get outside and get active! Create a hopscotch game but instead of numbers use words such as, noun, verb, adjective etc. Roll a dice and how ever many hops the student takes they give an example of what they landed on. Example: students lands on adjective - students says "An adjective is a describing word, like the word hairy." Snowball Writing - Stand in a circle as a class and throw around a crumpled up piece of paper. Each time a student gets the ball they add a word to the story, then re-crumple it and toss it to someone new. After about 15 minutes read the story your students collaboratively created!
