In science anything hands on is very beneficial to remembering information and making a connection in the brain. Adding a literacy aspect to science experiments is always easy too. Have students write down predictions, and make observations as they go. Students love cool experiments, so here are so fun ideas to try!
Cloud Jars - This is a fun experiment that each student could do independently! Such a fun way to learn about clouds, rain, & weather. What's Shaking? - This experiment focuses on the natural disaster of earthquakess. Using toothpicks & mini marshmallows each student would create their own structure (house, car, etc). the structures are placed on top of jello. When you shake the jello this represents the ground of an earthquake shaking! See what happens to the earth, as well as who built the strongest structures. Plant Growing - For this experiment students investigate different kinds of soil and which works best to grow plants. Students also learn an aspect of responsibility by each day remembering to care for their plant so it does not die. |
